[ARCHIVED] Paws in the Park is Back this April!

K9 Police Dog on leash at community event

Bring Your Furry Friends to Paws in the Park on April 13!

The Pelham Recreation Center is rolling out the red carpet for our four-legged friends at Paws in the Park on Sunday, April 13. This fun-filled community event invites pet owners and animal enthusiasts to gather for a day of tail-wagging excitement, socializing, and activities.

Paws in the Park will take place at Pelham City Park from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m., featuring a variety of pet-friendly vendors, food trucks, exciting demonstrations, and adorable adoptable pets from local shelters. Whether you're looking to pamper your pup with treats and accessories or hoping to find your next furry family member, this event has something for everyone.

Event Highlights:

🐾 Bama Air Dogs – Watch the agility and precision of Bama’s best Canine Disc performers
🐾 Adoption Opportunities – Meet lovable animals from local rescues and shelters.
🐾 Vendor Market – Shop for pet products, treats, and accessories.
🐾 Police Dog Demo – Enjoy live demonstrations from Pelham’s hardest working dogs!
🐾 Pet Vaccinations – Low-cost vaccine and microchip clinic provided by Shelby Humane 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
🐾 Pet Parade – Pets and their owners strut their stuff along the pre-set parade route
🐾 Kid’s Activities – Face painting, hula hoop fun, and inflatables!

This free, family-friendly event is open to all ages, and leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome to join the fun. Whether you're a devoted dog owner, a cat enthusiast, or simply an animal lover, Paws in the Park is the perfect way to celebrate the bond between people and pets.

Alicia Walters, Assistant Director of Pelham Parks and Recreation encourages all to come out and enjoy the event, with or without a dog. “We have something for everyone from food trucks to kid’s activities, and everyone gets a lot of joy from seeing the pets and their owners fill the park!”

“We do ask pet owners to please bring leashed, well-mannered dogs to this event,” she added.

For more information, email Alicia Walters  or follow us on social media for updates. We can’t wait to see you and your furry friends at Paws in the Park! Facebook Instagram

Be sure and bring a donation of dog food or cat food in support of the Alabama Pet Pantry, a non-profit local group serving pets in need since 2019 that strives to make sure no pet goes hungry in Pelham and Shelby County.

Date:  Sunday, April 13
Location: Pelham City Park
Time: 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Note: Vaccination clinic ends at 4:00 p.m.
